PlayStation, ahoy! How Rare’s pirate adventure Sea of Thieves set sail for a new platform | Games

One evening many months ago, Mike Chapman, the creative director of the co-op pirate adventure game Sea of Thieves, sat down to play the game with producer Joe Neate. This wasn’t just a standard playtest – joining them online would be a crew of players they’d never taken to the ocean with before. It was a team from Sony Interactive Entertainment. The plan to bring the Xbox exclusive to PS5 had just been hatched; now it was time to get into the detail. “We were educating them about the game, talking through what was…

The Science Behind NASA’s Solar Sail Breakthrough

NASA is developing solar sail technology for deep space exploration. This innovative propulsion system, powered by sunlight reflecting off its surface, has recently achieved a new readiness level, making it suitable for future science missions. Solar sails offer a fuel-free, environmentally friendly method of propulsion, capable of propelling low-mass missions to novel orbits and distant planets. Nordics will set sail in the west this Fall

NIS America has confirmed the latest Ys entry for a western release date. Ys X: Nordics will arrive sometime in Fall 2024 for the PlayStation 4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch. While it’s not surprising to see a Ys game head west, it is reassuring to see it get dated. There’s been a gap, for most of the recent Ys titles, between the Japanese retail launch and their ports to North America. At least with this game, the wait wasn’t terribly long; Ys X: Nordics launched in Japan in September 2023 for PlayStation and Switch.…

In a new interview, HBO and Max boss Casey Bloys said that while the show won’t continue at his network—it might, perhaps, find a new horizon elsewhere.Would Peter Capaldi Return to

World’s Largest Iceberg Sets Sail After Decades of Stillness

Satellite image of Iceberg A-23A captured on November 28, 2023, by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer on NASA’s Terra satellite. Stuck on the seafloor for decades, Iceberg A-23A now freely drifts northward toward warmer, iceberg-destroying waters. For decades, Iceberg A-23A sat quietly, out of sight, off the coast of Antarctica. But the berg has been attracting notice in November 2023 as it drifts northward across the Weddell Sea—closer to shipping lanes, islands inhabited by wildlife, and warmer…

NASA’s IMAP To Set Sail for Interstellar Mapping

IMAP will study the protective magnetic bubble that surrounds our solar system, called the heliosphere, and the particle acceleration that occurs across it. Credit: NASA/Princeton/Johns Hopkins APL/Josh Diaz IMAP, set for launch in late April to May 2025, marks a key phase in space exploration, focusing on mapping solar wind interactions and the heliosphere’s boundary. This NASA-led mission, with broad international collaboration, also features a unique public live feed of its development. The Interstellar Mapping and…

The MCU Swipes Its Next Most Powerful Hero From a Rival Superhero Universe as a Disney Plus Series We Thought Dead Sets Sail

Captain Marvel can’t even spend a full week at the top of the Marvel totem pole apparently, as word has it that the next most powerful MCU hero has been cast. Even if we weren’t supposed to know that yet. Elsewhere, a Disney Plus series we all thought had been snapped out of its existence may have actually been quietly rebooted behind the scenes, at least going by encouraging production rumors. And another day, another Fantastic Four casting rumor. But, first, a plea for leniency, addressed to Kevin Feige… Invincible…
