Tata Group: Tata Group companies sign up with Karnataka for investments of Rs 2,300 crore

Air India has proposed a maintenance, repair & overhaul (MRO) facility at an investment of Rs 1,300 crore, making Bengaluru its MRO hub in south India. This would add 1,200 jobs.
According to a study by National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER), the hub will increase the traffic by eight million passengers per annum, paving way for direct and indirect employment opportunities for about 26,000 people due to boost in business activity, support staff and tourism.
Tata Advanced Systems has planned three projects with an investment of Rs 1,030 crore. These include a passenger-to-freighter aircraft conversion facility (Rs 420 crore), a gun manufacturing facility (Rs 310 crore) and aerospace and defence research and development (Rs 300 crore). These are expected to add 450 jobs.
Tata Advanced Systems has planned to source more than half of its 13,000 parts for its gun manufacturing facility from within Karnataka, which is estimated to give jobs to about 3,000 people in about 350 SME units.
