Tata is currently one of the popular SUV maker in Indian market. They have a range of products like Punch, Nexon, Harrier and Safari in their SUV line-up. Both Tata Safari and Harrier are doing pretty well in their respective segments. Tata launched Harrier in 2019 and gave it a feature update in 2020. The all-new Safari which is based on Harrier was launched in 2021. Both SUVs share several features including the engine. We have seen several videos of both the SUVs online and here we have a video where a Tata Harrier is seen competing with Safari in a drag race video.

The video has been uploaded by Rehan Yadav Vlogs on their YouTube channel. In this video, the vlogger shares the engine specification of both the SUVs and mentions that both the SUVs have manual gearbox. The Tata Safari seen here is a higher variant which means it comes with Terrain Response System whereas the Harrier used in the video does not get it. Both the SUVs were lined up for the race. The vlogger is driving the Tata Safari while his friend is in the Harrier.

The race is conducted in multiple rounds and they chose a closed road for this race. Both SUVs prepare for the race and start racing. Both SUVs got a good start. As they were both powered by the same engine and gearbox, both SUVs were moving ahead together. Surprisingly, Harrier could only manage to pull forward halfway through the race. Tata Harrier won the first round and then they came back to the start point for the next round.

Both the SUVs were lined up and the race starts. Just like in the first round, both SUVs next to each other but surprisingly in this round, Tata Safari performed well and it managed to pull away smoothly and take the lead. Tata Safari won the second round. For the third round, the Harrier driver turned off the AC and switched on Sport mode for better pickup. Safari on the other hand was being driven with the AC on and in regular mode. The race started and just like in the second round, Tata Harrier could not win the race. Safari somehow managed to get the lead back and won third round as well.

In the fourth round, vlogger turned off AC in Safari and switched to Sport Mode. The traction control cannot be turned off in Sport mode in Safari. The cars were lined up and both the SUVs start racing. Within seconds, Tata Safari started showing its true colours and simply took the lead away from Harrier. Tata Harrier and Safari are both powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged diesel engine. The engine generates 170 Ps and 350 Nm of peak torque. Both the SUVs come with manual and automatic transmission option. Tata Safari is slightly heavier when compared to Harrier due to the extra row seat at the rear. Even after that Safari managed to win the race without any issue. It is quite possible that the driver in Harrier was not as experienced as the vlogger and also the traction control in Harrier might have been interrupting while launching the car during the race in Harrier.
