0 34

Tata Motors has officially unveiled its much-awaited premium hatchback, the Altroz iCNG. This model has become the first car in India to feature a brand-new twin-cylinder CNG tank technology. Tata Motors has also commenced the bookings for this premium CNG hatchback, and interested customers can reserve one for an amount of Rs 21,000 at the nearest Tata Motors dealership. The company has also announced that deliveries of the Altroz iCNG will commence in May 2023.

The newest CNG hatchback from Tata Motors features innovative twin-cylinder technology that offers a rather large capacity of 60 liters. According to the company, each of the cylinders has a 30-liter capacity and both are placed below the luggage area. This new technology helps to retrieve a lot of the luggage space that, in conventional CNG systems, is robbed by a single huge tank.

Furthermore, the company has added that the Altroz iCNG will come with a single advanced ECU that ensures a seamless and jerk-free driving experience while shifting from petrol to CNG mode or vice versa. The Altroz iCNG also features the ability to directly start in the CNG mode. Additional safety features of the newest CNG product from Tata Motors include thermal incident protection, a gas leak detection feature, and a micro switch to ensure the car is switched off at the time of refuelling. Tata Motors is also offering the Altroz iCNG with a standard warranty of 3 years or 100,000 km.

Tata Motors will offer the Altroz iCNG in four variants, namely XE, XM+, XZ, and XZ+. Additionally, the car will also be offered in four colour choices: Opera Blue, Downtown Red, Arcade Grey, and Avenue White. Like the ICE iteration of the Altroz, this new model will also feature all the creature comforts such as leatherette seats, iRA connected car technology, cruise control, automatic headlamps, and a ton of other equipment. In terms of exterior design changes, the new Altroz iCNG will look exactly like the outgoing Altroz; however, it will feature a few iCNG monikers around the car to distinguish it.

The Altroz iCNG will be powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine which will utilize the new CNG system. The hatchback will produce a maximum of 77 bhp of power and 97 Nm of torque, lower than the 86 bhp of power and 113 Nm of torque in their standard petrol versions.

Most likely in the coming months, the company will also launch the iCNG iteration of its highly popular micro-SUV Punch which it showcased at the Auto Expo 2023 alongside the Altroz iCNG. The Punch CNG will also feature the same twin-cylinder CNG technology and will be powered by the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine. Power outputs will also most likely be identical to the Altroz iCNG. No interior and exterior changes are expected in the Punch iCNG as well.
