Tata Motors is set to make significant strides in the electric vehicle (EV) segment with the introduction of four new models by late 2025, reinforcing its position as a key player in the mass-market EV landscape in India. These upcoming EVs will leverage the advanced Acti.EV architecture, a notable technological enhancement featured in the recently launched Punch EV.

Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, unveiled the company’s EV roadmap during the Punch EV launch. According to him, the lineup includes the Curvv EV, Harrier EV, Sierra EV, and Altroz EV, each bringing unique features and contributing to Tata Motors’ commitment to sustainable mobility.

The Curvv EV, set to launch in the coming months, stands out as the next EV SUV in Tata’s portfolio. Positioned above the Nexon EV, it will compete with the Hyundai Creta EV. The Curvv EV adopts a four-door SUV-coupe body style, showcasing Tata’s innovative design approach. Launching this EV ahead of its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterparts is a strategic move, allowing Tata Motors to establish a strong presence in the midsize EV SUV segment before competitors enter the fray.

Following closely is the Harrier EV, slated for a launch later this year. Based on the Harrier EV concept showcased at the Auto Expo, it combines the Land Rover-derived Omega architecture with Tata’s Gen 2 EV architecture. This hybrid platform, while originally ICE-based, undergoes extensive reengineering to accommodate electric powertrains. The Harrier EV’s introduction precedes that of the eagerly awaited Harrier turbo-petrol variant.

Looking ahead to 2025, Tata Motors has ambitious plans with the Sierra EV and Altroz EV. The Sierra EV, a revival of the iconic nameplate, is expected to make waves with its distinctive design and electric powertrain. Simultaneously, the Altroz EV, based on the popular Altroz hatchback, is set to offer an electric alternative, catering to a diverse range of consumers.

Tata Motors’ comprehensive EV strategy, encompassing a range of SUVs and a hatchback, underscores its commitment to providing environmentally friendly mobility solutions. By leveraging cutting-edge technology and embracing the electrification trend, Tata Motors aims to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the Indian automotive landscape. As the company ventures into this new era of sustainable transportation, consumers can anticipate a lineup of EVs that seamlessly blend innovation, performance, and environmental consciousness.
