Tata Nexon, which became India’s first five-star rated car sure got involved in a lot of accidents. Here is another one that saved a family. The incident happened in Maharashtra and everyone travelling in the vehicle came out safely. Here’s what happened.

The information of this crash is sent by an eye witness. According to the information, a family of four was travelling on the highway and the Nexon was at high speed. The driver of the car could not control the vehicle at a corner while taking the turn at high speed. The Nexon crashed and turtled.

The vehicle came to rest on its roof. The vehicle also broke the safety barriers and crashed on the side of the road. The pictures of the vehicle show the severe damaged that the vehicle suffered. However, the impact of the crash did not reach the cabin. The pictures show that all the pillars of the Tata Nexon are intact and there are no damages.

All the four passengers inside the vehicle were admitted to a local hospital for first aid. There are no critical injuries and all the travellers are safe. We are also see that the airbags opened and kept the front passengers from getting critical injuries. We are not sure if everyone in the car was wearing a seatbelt. Fastening the seatbelt ensures minimal injuries during accidents.

Tata Nexon is India’s first 5-star rated car

Tata Nexon scored four stars in its first-ever crash test in 2016. But after a few changes and a retest, the mid-size SUV scored a perfect 5-star rating to become India’s first such car. The Nexon received 16.06 points out of 17, which is the highest ever achieved by any car ever made in India. The extra score adds one more star to Nexon’s earlier 4-star rating by the same testing agency.

It should be noted that the Tata Nexon’s body shell, platform and structure remained unchanged from the tests that were done in August 2018. Even the number of standard dual front airbags of the Nexon remains the same. It is only the addition of the full-channel version of ABS in the Nexon as standard fitment plus the seatbelt reminder of the driver and the passenger raises the score of the vehicle.

SUVs are not meant to be driven fast

SUVs or pseudo SUVs like the Tata Nexon sit on high ground clearance. These cars have a tall design, which shifts the center-of-gravity to a higher position making it unstable. The softer suspension set-up mixed with a high centre of gravity makes many SUVs slow handlers. SUVs have high mass and it is difficult to change the direction of mass quickly.

Shifting lanes at high speed or taking a turn at high speed may cause the SUV to lose its control. Even the smallest turns at high speed can cause a large degree of body roll in SUVs. Hence, they are not the best vehicles when it comes to handling.
