The new year is here, and vehicle manufacturers will soon start launching updated, facelifted, or all-new products in the market. Concerning the Indian market, there is a list of cars and bikes expected to enter the market. However, some models are planning to make a comeback in a new avatar. Here, we have a list of five such vehicles that car enthusiasts in India are eagerly awaiting.

Tata Sierra

The first car on the list is the Tata Sierra. Tata Motors showcased the Sierra concept a couple of years ago at the Auto Expo in Delhi. It garnered so much attention that Tata decided to create a production version of the same. Just weeks before last year ended, we even came across patented design images of the upcoming Sierra. The manufacturer has indeed filed the design patent for the Sierra EV, but we can expect a similar design for the ICE version too.

Tata Sierra EV

The leaked images resemble the Sierra’s second concept that Tata showcased last year. As Tata is currently a strong player in the EV space, they will be launching the electric version of the Sierra in the market. It is based on Tata’s Gen 2 architecture. The electric version of the Sierra is expected to be launched in 2025, and the ICE version is expected to follow.

Mahindra Armada (Thar 5-door)

Another anticipated vehicle from the Indian car manufacturer Mahindra is the 5-door Thar. This more practical version of the Thar has been spotted testing several times, and recent spy videos hint that the SUV is almost ready for production. Reports suggest that the upcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door is likely to be called the Armada. The brand might resurrect the Armada name for the upcoming SUV. Mahindra used to sell this Jeep-based SUV in the market from 1991 till 2001.

Manual and automatic transmission options will be offered with both engine variants, and 4×4 would also be offered as an option. The SUV is expected to launch in 2024.

Renault Duster

Renault made an official announcement last year that they’ll be reintroducing the Duster SUV to India. The Duster was one of those SUVs that started the trend of compact SUVs in the Indian market and was popular among buyers for its ride quality. The next-generation Duster has been launched internationally, and the same is expected to hit the European market in 2024. It is completely different from what we had in the market. The new generation Duster takes inspiration from the Renault Bigster concept and will be offered with petrol engine options only. Renault plans to launch the Duster in India sometime in 2025.

Ambassador

The next car on the list is the Ambassador. We know that the name Ambassador was sold to Groupe PSA. There were reports suggesting that the Ambassador nameplate will be used by the brand for their upcoming electric vehicle for the Indian market. As of now, there is no confirmation on when we would see the production version of the Ambassador EV.

Contessa

Similar to the Ambassador, the name Contessa was also sold to SG Corporate Mobility Pvt. Ltd. for an undisclosed sum. The Contessa was known as the muscle car of design due to its design elements. It was, in fact, a 4-door sedan with a boxy design. The sedan might come back to the Indian market as an EV, just like the Ambassador.
