Recently, the British automaker MG Motor announced that the two-door, compact Air EV will go on sale in India early in 2023. According to sources MG could be previewing this all-new small electric vehicle at the 2023 Auto Expo which will be taking place in February of next year. The MG Air will be based on the SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture’s mini EV – a tiny electric runabout vehicle simply called the Wuling EV. Back in June of this year, the Wuling EV was introduced in Indonesia.

The MG Air EV will sport a futuristic front end with a full-width light bar and chrome strips that artistically connect it to the wing mirrors, which are mounted on stalks on the door body rather than at the base of the A-pillar. This bar is followed by the charging port door and the five-diamond Wuling logo. Immediately above the black front bumper, farther down, are the dual-tier headlights. The body side is also rather interesting, with a black roof, a vertical rectangular rear side window just behind the B-pillars, and flush door handles. The sleek side surface has a single shoulder line connecting the massive side windows to the headlamps, as well as a scalloped bottom section.

Recently the interior pictures of the MG Air EV base car the Wuling EV were leaked online. From those pictures, it was noted that the interior of the forthcoming EV will feature a beautiful dual-tone scheme. Also, lighter colors have been utilized widely throughout the interior. The twin 10.25-inch displays that were placed side by side and displayed information about the car were the interior’s focal point. Furthermore, there were two AV vents that have been positioned horizontally and underneath them, there were also three spherical knobs for the controls for the air conditioning.

Additionally from the pictures, it was also noted that the steering wheel had a two-spoke design with a circular boss and two separate control sets on either side that are both finished in silver. These control sets included controls for the infotainment system’s voice commands, music, and navigation, among other things. White and grey finishes are used for the door pads, dashboard, and seats.

Although MG has not yet provided information regarding the powertrain or range of the vehicle, the automobile is offered in China in two configurations. A two-seater measuring 2,599 mm (102.3 inches) in length and a four-seater measuring 2,974 (117.1 inches). Both will have electric motors that produce 40 horsepower (30 kW / 40 PS), which Wuling claims is more than the Mini EV and Nano EV. Additionally, it is anticipated that the Wuling or the MG Air EV would have power outputs of 30 kW (41 PS) or 50 kW (68 PS), which is more than the 20 kW (27 PS) provided on its likely less expensive sibling. Both are supposed to have 26.5 and 28.4 kWh lithium-ion batteries and a range of 300 kilometres on the Chinese CLTC cycle.
