In the Marvel sphere today, there’s some news that is a joy to report on but also other updates that are sadly very much the opposite. Although accusations leveled at fellow MCU villain Jonathan Majors have yet to be settled in court, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Tenoch Huerta is now facing his own sexual assault allegations, something that the actor has swiftly responded to. In a happier turn of events, meanwhile, Sony is giving horror-leaning superhero fans not one, but two treats to look forward to.

As you may be aware, Huerta has been accused of being a “sexual predator” by musician María Elena Ríos, something which is casting yet another unwanted dark cloud over the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The former Narcos: Mexico actor has quickly come forward to point-blank deny any claims of assault made against him, however, labeling Ríos’ allegations as “false and completely unsubstantiated.” This has done nothing to stop Twitter detectives from uncovering some unsavory tweets from his past, which were previously dug up when he was first cast as Namor in 2020.

Two treats, no trick: Venom 3 coming Halloween 2024 as Miles Morales has a nightmare in dream Spider-Verse spinoff

Thank you to Sony for providing us with something to look forward to on two fronts today. Not only is Venom 3 starting its shoot very soon, we’ve also found out that it’s all set to slither into cinemas in time for Halloween 2024. Hopping over to the animated Spider-Verse, Across the Spider-Verse prequel short The Spider Within has just made its film festival debut, thereby confirming that it features a unique nightmarish story that promises to take the animated franchise into full-blown horror territory. For once, fans of Sony’s Spidey films keep on winning. Well, except for the continued silence on Spider-Man 4, that is.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 surpasses the first movie at the box office, so James Gunn’s making you wait to catch it at home

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is still soaring into space at the global box office — it’s the fourth-biggest movie in the world right now and its total gross has surpassed that of 2014’s franchise-starter. As such, Marvel Studios is in no hurry to dump the cosmic threequel on streaming. As director James Gunn put it when asked by impatient couch potatoes when it’s a-coming to Disney Plus, “Let us enjoy cinemas.” As Gunn has previously admitted, by that same logic it’s going to take a while for it to hit digital too. So we might be in for another mammoth wait of Quantumania and Avatar 2 proportions. Saddle up, folks.

Even as The Flash zaps the goodwill created by Across the Spider-Verse and Guardians 3, the Marvel universe never slows down, so don’t go anywhere.
