The Edit Tweet Button Comes To US Twitter Blue Subscribers

0 47

We’ve been waiting for Twitter to finally implement the edit tweet button, and that day is drawing nearer. While the feature is exclusive to Twitter Blue users at the moment, it will eventually make it to the public. Now, according to XDA developers, the edit tweet button is arriving for Twitter Blue users in the US.

Twitter has been working on the edit tweet button since last year, but it only recently ramped up production. Currently, it’s available to select Twitter Blue subscribers. Twitter Blue is a company’s premium subscription service.

If you’re a free user, don’t despair. The future will eventually make it to you. We just don’t know when that will be.

Even though Twitter is based in the US, the company has been testing this feature out in other countries. These countries include New Zealand, Australia, and Canada. The social media platform assured us that the feature was eventually going to come stateside.

Now that day has come. Twitter users in the US are now able to edit their tweets. Here’s an example of an edited tweet below.

How this future works

Twitter has a strict mentality when it comes to editing tweets. Instead of being able to haphazardly edit what you post, there are a few rules you have to follow.

Firstly, after you post a tweet, you only have 30 minutes to edit it. You’ll see a little timer on the top right of your tweet coming down. Also, you can only edit a tweet up to five times. That should be more than enough to fix a typo or make an amendment.

Last, but not least, when you edit a tweet, you’re not technically editing the tweet. What you’re doing is making a copy of the original tweet and editing that. This means that the original tweet you posted will still be accessible to viewers.

When a tweet has been edited, the new version will be posted for people to see. However, it will have a link to the original on the bottom.

It’s a lot more strict than with other companies, but it’s definitely a lot better than not having the ability at all. If you want to know more about Twitter blue, you can click here.
