‘The Flash’ Screening Lacked a Post-Credits Scene, But There Could Be a Reason

Hot off the heels of the second trailer for the upcoming DC movie The Flash, the first semi-public screening of the fastest man alive’s solo adventure has just gone down at CinemaCon, and the reactions are rolling in thick and fast. Needless to say, if you want as pure a cinemagoing experience as possible when the film arrives for the general public, avert your eyes and come back later.
While there’s plenty to glean from the thoughts and opinions rolling in on social media, one particular factoid reported from the screening is piqueing a bit of interest among the superhero film fandom – The Flash, in its current form, doesn’t have a post-credits scene.
Given the film is still well over a month away from its official release, perhaps the final theatrical cut is yet to be finalized, which may well include any potential mid or post-credits stingers that hint towards the future of the DC Universe. If The Flash turns out to be the purported “reboot” for the franchise before James Gunn’s vision for the DCU kicks in, we should consider the possibility that DC Studios’ co-head had a hand in the editing process when it came to setting everything up.
While The Flash has been gathering dust on a hard drive somewhere for quite some time now on account of Ezra Miller’s alleged misdeeds, Gunn has only been in DC’s driver’s seat for roughly around six months. As such, if the new decision maker wanted to allude to his future plans for the franchise in the upcoming film, there’s a chance such stingers could still be a work in progress.
On the flipside, it’s possible that the conclusion of The Flash is so calamitous to the DC Universe that the film has opted to take Avengers: Infinity War approach and not make any inclusion to the mid-credits, leaving the audience guessing as to what happens next. Then again, that movie did still have a Captain Marvel tease right at the end there – so we’re at a loss.
We’ll just have to sit and wait patiently to find out for ourselves when The Flash zooms into theaters on June 16, 2023.
