Spotify Announces Major Design Changes at Stream On 2023 Event

Spotify has made a major announcement at its Stream On 2023 event in Los Angeles, surprising users with a series of notable changes to its design.

At the event, company executives, artists, and celebrities such as Ed Sheeran, Emma Chamberlain, Halsey, and Jennifer Lopez were present to hear the announcement. Spotify will be abandoning its traditional design to offer all its features on the front page, with lots of music and other surprises.

As Daniel Ek, the founder and CEO of Spotify said, “Stream On is about all the ways in which we are bringing Spotify to life, letting creators know that we are present at all stages of their careers.”

The New Interface

The new interface has been completely changed, with new visual elements and a range of new features for users. Here are some highlights:

  • Smart Shuffle: This introduces a new way to add new music that perfectly complements an existing user-created playlist at the touch of a button.
  • Previews: Users can access the Music or podcast submenus to discover previews (visual and sound) of playlists, albums, and podcast episodes customized for each podcast.
  • Autoplay: Spotify now offers autoplay for podcasts, meaning that when a podcast ends, it will automatically start playing another episode that suits the user’s tastes.

According to Gustav Söderström, Co-President, Chief Product and Technology Officer of Spotify, “Spotify recommendations drive almost half of the streams of all users. And when listeners decide to follow a creator, they listen, on average, five times more to their music.”

Tools to Help Grow the Fan Base

In addition, Spotify has announced a set of tools that will help grow its userbase through a new section called Bells, where sponsored recommendations will be available through Marquee. This is 10 times more profitable, and it is expected to bring more revenue for the creators.

Spotify has also announced the arrival of merchandising and live events, providing new ways for creators to earn more money by connecting with their fans through selling merchandise and promoting live events.

Updating the App

Spotify users can now update their app to see the new features. If it is not available, they can simply wait for a couple of days and it will appear.

Spotify’s new interface and features are expected to revolutionize the music industry and provide new and exciting ways for both creators and users to enjoy music and other forms of audio entertainment.
