The Motorola Razr 2022 is finally official, after its press event got postponed earlier this month. This is the third-gen foldable smartphone from the company, and some may refer to it as the Motorola Razr 3.

The Motorola Razr 2022 is now official with proper flagship specs

The phone got announced in China, though its global debut will likely follow soon. We’re only guessing, though. The Motorola Razr 2022 follows the Galaxy Z Flip 4 clamshell that became official yesterday.

Now, the Motorola Razr 2022 looks considerably different than its predecessor. It loses that huge ‘chin’ that was kind of a trademark of the series, while it also adds a second camera on the back.

It includes a 144Hz foldable OLED display

The Motorola Razr 2022 has two displays. The main one is a 6.7-inch OLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate. This is a fullHD+ display, by the way, and it supports HDR10+ content. DC dimming is also supported.

The second display sits on the back, with the phone’s main cameras. It is a 2.7-inch OLED display, which is the same size as the panel on the previous Razr device. In fact, it seems to be the same.

The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is under the hood

The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC fuels the Motorola Razr 2022. That is Qualcomm’s most powerful SoC at the moment, and it makes the Razr 2022 the first phone in the series to offer truly flagship specs.

Now, the Razr 2022 offers up to either 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 flash storage. Prices range from CNY5,999 ($890) to CNY7,299 ($1,085), depending on the model. It remains to be seen which variants will be available globally, though.

A 50-megapixel camera leads the pack

A 50-megapixel main camera (OIS, 1/1.55-inch sensor) leads the pack on the back. It is backed by a 13-megapixel ultrawide camera, which doubles as a macro camera. A single 32-megapixel main camera sits on the phone’s main display, in the form of a hole punch.

Android 12 comes pre-installed on the device, along with MyUI 4.0 skin. There are two stereo speakers included here, with Dolby Atmos support. The phone also has a side-facing fingerprint scanner.

Motorola did not say anything about its global availability, but we presume more info will follow in the near future.
