Samsung Wallet is now available for Galaxy device users in South Africa. Existing Samsung Pay and Samsung Pass users in South Africa will now be greeted with a notification to migrate to Samsung Wallet when they open one of the two aforementioned apps. They’ll gain access to more features, including digital keys, membership and transportation cards, access to mobile payments, coupons, and more.

Samsung began merging its Pay and Pass platforms earlier this summer. The result is Samsung Wallet — a new app that fulfills the functions of Pay and Pass while adding new features.

More countries to join soon

Initially, Samsung Wallet was available in eight countries, including China, France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Spain, the USA, and the UK. However, the company announced last month that Samsung Wallet is coming to thirteen more countries before the end of the year, including Bahrain, Denmark, Finland, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Norway, Oman, Qatar, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Vietnam, and UAE.

The company launched Samsung Wallet in Switzerland at the end of October, and now Samsung says the unified platform is available in South Africa. The release might be staggered, as it was in Switzerland, which means the app might not become available to all customers in South Africa at the same time.

Samsung Wallet allows users to securely store IDs, vaccine cards, train tickets, airline boarding passes, digital car keys, crypto wallets, debit and credit cards, and more.
