These upcoming features show that Threads is catching up to Elon Musk’s X

It’s official, Meta Threads is here to stay, as the app has been able to climb back up the rankings to become one of the most popular social media platforms. This is because it’s constantly adding new features to make it a better competitor to Elon Musk’s X. Mark Zuckerberg just announced a camera feature coming to Threads along with the ability to make drafts.

You’re undoubtedly going to use Threads to post images just like any other social media platform. However, some people don’t like the trouble of taking a picture with a camera app, navigating to the social media app, and finally getting it through the photo picker. Some people just want to open up the social media app and take a picture.

Well, the Threads camera feature will solve this issue

Right now, this feature has not been officially rolled out; however, it was officially announced. Mark Zuckerberg himself posted a picture to Threads of a picturesque snowy scene. The caption in the post reads “taken with the new camera we’re testing in Threads”. The picture itself looks pretty nice, but the quality will depend on the camera hardware you’re using. As for the features and tools that the camera will bring the Threads, we have no idea. Hopefully, the company will release a public test in the near future.

In the screenshot below, we see the camera icon hovering over the upload picture and GIFs icon. We’re not sure why it’s hovering over these UI elements, but, it’s still in testing. So, we expect it to change position.

Drafts

Drafts is a feature coming to Threads that people will like. Sometimes, when you’re in the middle of typing a post, you get pulled away. Well, if you don’t keep the app open and in the RAM, you will lose the post you’re working on.

However, Threads is also getting a drafts feature. So, if you can’t finish the post you’re working on, you’ll be able to save it as a draft and edit it later. Based on the screenshot, it looks like the draft will be saved automatically once you exit the post composer. So, it’s a feature that you don’t really have to think about using. It will just work.

At this point, we don’t know when Meta plans to make these features public. However, based on the screenshots, they appear to be pretty far into production. So, hopefully, there won’t be much time to wait

These are just more features chipping off the list of things that Threads can’t do.
