0 26

MG Motor India’s flagship model, the Gloster SUV, has been in the market for a couple of years without any major updates since its launch. Recently, a heavily camouflaged version of the MG Gloster SUV was spotted in India, expected to be the next-generation or 2024 version of the model. This SUV will feature several exterior and interior changes, giving us an idea of how the upcoming MG Gloster might look. The British car brand MG is owned by SAIC, one of China’s biggest car manufacturers. The parent company sells the same SUV under different names in many other international markets.

2024 MG Gloster

The upcoming 2024 MG Gloster SUV is likely to have a design similar to the Maxus Lingdi (Territory in English) SUV, available for sale in the Chinese market since 2022. The same SUV is anticipated to be introduced in Australia as the LDV D90 SUV.

The MG Gloster sold in the Indian market is based on the Maxus D90 SUV, the same as the LDV D90. The updated version of the Maxus D90, called Lingdi, has grown in size compared to the model currently available for sale in India.

Compared to the current version of the Gloster, the front-end of the upcoming SUV is completely different, featuring a much more robust or aggressive appearance with a large polygonal grille at the front. Vertically placed LED lights are integrated onto the side of the grille. Similar to the MG Hector, the manufacturer has repositioned the headlamps onto the bumper, and the cluster also includes fog lamps and cornering lamps. The LED DRLs are placed on the top and are likely dual-function units.

These changes we’re mentioning here are based on the Maxus Lingdi SUV sold abroad. There’s a possibility that the Indian-spec version might have a slightly different design. The side profile of the SUV looks more or less the same. In the spy picture circulating online, a strong shoulder line meeting the tail lamp at the rear is visible, a design similar to the Lingdi SUV.

The design of the rear quarter glass also resembles that of the Lingdi SUV. The rear showcases a rugged yet premium-looking design, featuring redesigned tail lamps. The all-LED tail light is a wraparound unit with a connecting LED bar running across the width of the SUV. We expect to see MG branding just above the tail lamps and the Gloster badge on the lower half of the tailgate. The bumper is also redesigned, with a silver-colored faux skid plate with twin exhaust tops, elements visible in the spy pictures.

The upcoming MG Gloster is expected to offer a revised cabin as well, featuring an updated touchscreen infotainment system, leather upholstery, panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, electrical adjustments to the seat, and more. MG might even offer features like massaging functions for the seat. The SUV will continue to offer ADAS features like the current model.

Regarding the engine and transmission options, the MG Gloster is currently available with 2.0-liter turbo and 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel engine options. The same engine options are expected to be offered with the 2024 model. A mild-hybrid diesel engine is offered with the SUV internationally, but we’re unsure if the same will be sold in India or not.
