Tesla is one of the most popular and recognized names when it comes to electric vehicles. It wouldn’t be wrong to call it the brand that started the revolution of electric cars in the West. Tesla announced its official entry into the Indian market a few years ago; however, due to various disagreements with the government policies, the manufacturer did not launch any models in India. There are now reports suggesting that this electric vehicle manufacturer will be launching its products in India soon. Along with its other products, Tesla is likely to launch an affordable electric vehicle in India. Here we have a rendered video that shows what the upcoming affordable made-in-India electric car might look like.

The video has been shared by SRK Designs on their YouTube channel. In this video, the rendering artist imagines the entry-level electric car that Tesla will be launching in India. The artist has imagined this car as a hatchback. While Tesla has launched several sedans and SUVs in the market, they have not ventured into the hatchback segment yet. The artist took the liberty of creating a rendered image of the same.

Initially, Tesla was planning to launch the Model 3 sedan in the Indian market. However, it wasn’t going to be an affordable sedan as the import duties and other taxes on this car would have taken the price somewhere around the Rs 60 lakh bracket. On the other hand, the hatchback expected to be launched in the market might be priced around Rs 20 lakh. As for the design elements, the front end of the hatchback is designed to resemble other Tesla products. It features a closed grille design with C-shaped vents on the lower bumper.

There are turn indicators or LED DRLs integrated into the bumper. The lower air dam of this rendering looks open. The headlamp design is similar to what you would find in the Tesla Model 3, only sleeker. The bonnet of the hatchback bears the Tesla badge. Moving to the side profile, the hatchback seems inspired by the Model 3. In fact, it wouldn’t be wrong to call it a Model 3 without the boot. The sedan’s boot section has been chopped off to create a hatchback-like design.

The car comes with low-friction tires and wheels designed to reduce drag while in motion. This would help the car achieve a better range. The flush-fitting door handles are also visible in the rendered image. However, the video fails to show how the car would look from the rear. The artist also did not display the interior of this Rs 20 lakh Tesla EV. It should be noted that Tesla has not yet revealed whether the made-in-India electric car will be a hatchback or a sedan that would sit below the Model 3.

The artist refers to this hatchback as Model 2, but there is no certainty as to whether the upcoming car from Tesla would look like this. Tesla has only confirmed that they are working on an electric car for emerging markets, and not much is known about the car yet.
