As one Marvel movie promises to be taking some surprising storytelling routes, another appears to be getting a significant creative overhaul a mere few weeks before it starts shooting. Things are only getting more interesting for Captain America: New World Order, but it’s not looking so hot for Thunderbolts, at least in terms of the fandom’s feelings. Elsewhere, Sony is spinning a new spin-off for its Spider-Verse that should please Miles Morales maniacs.

Snaps from the set of Captain America 4 continue to offer the goods, with the latest revealing our first look at Harrison Ford as the regenerated (and shaved) Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. That said, our inaugural glimpse at Tim Blake Nelson as The Leader is only leading to way more questions, thanks to a weird costuming detail that could either everything or nothing. Moreover, the film’s connections to the Hulk-verse are an open secret at this point, but here’s hoping director Julius Onah’s effort finds room for another extremely overlooked member of that side of the mythos who’s seriously due for a comeback.

Thunderbolts lands a new writer weeks before production starts, and fans aren’t worried about that at all

Thunderbolts has already raised a lot of concern in the MCU fandom thanks to its arguably lackluster team lineup and prior rumors indicating it may have lost one of its most interesting characters. With filming just a couple of months away, the latest update is causing folks to fret even more. It turns out director Jake Screier has hired Beef colleague Lee Sung Jin to rewrite the script, which was previously turned in by Black Widow‘s Eric Pearson. Who knows exactly to what extent Jin is retooling the story, but given that leading lady Florence Pugh just admitted to knowing nothing about it, we’re guessing it’s a lot.

Miles Morales gets one more (spider)bite-sized adventure ahead of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

In good news for Spider-Verse viewers, Sony has just announced a surprise extra mouthful for those who can’t get enough of Miles Morales’ multiversal adventures. A short film titled The Spider Within is coming, which promises to tell an impactful story about the youthful webhead dealing with his issues with anxiety. Though the story suggests it’s a prequel, the short will actually premiere at the Annecy animation festival in France on June 11, which is after Across the Spider-Verse enters cinemas on June 2. It’s unclear exactly where and when general audiences will get to see it, but at least we know it’s on the way.

Iron-hearted fans might be wondering if an MCU icon should’ve been killed off a decade ago, but there’s no risk of the never-ending stream of Marvel news dying out anytime soon.
