Tiësto Is the Super Bowl’s First In-Game DJ – The Hollywood Reporter

0 21

Grammy-winning DJ-producer Tiësto will become the Super Bowl’s first in-game DJ.

The NFL tells The Hollywood Reporter that the Dutch musician will perform a DJ set prior to the game as the players warm up, as well as spin music during featured breaks within the game, becoming the first DJ to perform throughout the Super Bowl. The Feb. 11 spectacle will air live on CBS from Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada.

“I’m excited to be a part of the Super Bowl LVIII!” Tiësto says in a statement. “And it’s even more incredible that it’s in my favorite place — Las Vegas. Thank you to the NFL for having me. I cannot wait to party with you all at the big game!”

Tiësto joins a list of top-notch artists who will perform at the big game. Usher will headline the halftime show, and pre-game performers include Reba McEntire (“The Star-Spangled Banner”), Post Malone (“America the Beautiful”) and Andra Day (“Lift Every Voice and Sing”).

The NFL began hosting a pre-game DJ performer at the 2020 Super Bowl in Miami. This will be the fifth year of the DJ set during player warm-ups, and Tiësto is the first artist who will be playing the full game, including the pre-game. Past DJ pre-game performers include DJ Khaled, Zedd, D-Nice and DJ Snake.

“Each year, we look to elevate the in-stadium experience for our fans, and with our first Super Bowl in Las Vegas, it seems only fitting to embrace the legacy of iconic DJs in this city by having Tiësto bring his signature style to our biggest event,” says Tim Tubito, NFL’s director of event presentation and content. “As one of the most influential DJ/producers who helped define the culture of Las Vegas and electronic music around the world, Tiësto is the perfect artist to help us create an unforgettable gameday experience for our fans, players and viewers everywhere.”

Tiësto, 55, has collaborated with John Legend, Post Malone, Karol G, 21 Savage, Tate McRae, Gucci Mane, Ava Max, the Chainsmokers and Rita Ora. Some of his Top 10 hits on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart and platinum-selling singles include “Jackie Chan,” “The Business,” “The Motto,” “Wasted,” “10:35” and “Red Lights.”

In 2015, Tiësto won the Grammy for best remixed recording (non-classical) for his reworking of John Legend’s pop ballad “All of Me.”
