The comedian did not appear in court for the misdemeanor charges, entering the plea through her defense team

Tiffany Haddish has pleaded not guilty to two misdemeanor DUI charges in Los Angeles County after she was arrested in Beverly Hills last month, sources confirm to Rolling Stone.

The Emmy and Grammy winner, 44, did not appear before the judge in person Wednesday. Instead, she entered the plea through one of her lawyers, Mari Henderson, an associate at the firm of Alex Sprio — the longtime lawyer of Jay-Z, Megan Thee Stallion, and Elon Musk. Sources confirm to Rolling Stone that Spiro is the lead lawyer on the case.

Haddish has been charged with one count of misdemeanor driving under the influence and one count of misdemeanor driving with a blood alcohol level of at least 0.08 percent. Her case is due back in court for a pretrial hearing on Feb. 14.

Beverly Hills Police previously told Rolling Stone that officers responded to a call of a person blocking a roadway, possibly slumped over the wheel on Nov. 24, the day after Thanksgiving. Officers found Haddish, conducted a DUI investigation, and arrested her, police said. Known for her roles in the 2017 buddy movie Girls Trip and this year’s supernatural Disney comedy Haunted Mansion, Haddish had just performed at the Laugh Factory’s 43rd annual free Thanksgiving feast and party for disadvantaged members of the community.

Haddish’s defense team did not immediately respond to Rolling Stone‘s request for comment on Wednesday. The Here Today star was previously arrested on suspicion of DUI in January 2022 in Georgia after witnesses allegedly reported seeing a driver “asleep at the wheel.” The case is still ongoing.

Haddish told ET just days after her most recent arrest that she planned to “get help.” She said a similar incident “will never happen again” and added that it was important to seek help “so I can learn balance and boundaries.”
