Timer functionality is built into pretty much every smartphone these days. Time Rise app does up the ante, though. This is a timer app, essentially, but it works in an interesting way, and offers a really nice design.

Once you open the app, you’ll be able to tap the display to set the timer. Just to be clear, we’re talking about the countdown timer here. Once you set it, and confirm, you’ll notice nothing happens, the timer didn’t start counting down.
Why? Well, because you need to turn your phone upside down to start the timer. You can restart it by turning the phone upside down yet again. If you turn the phone to the side, the timer will pause.
As the time is running out, the background color will also move, as if you’re filling up a glass or something of the sort. In order for this to work, though, animations on your phone need to be turned on. If you’ve removed animations entirely, you won’t be able to see this process. The app will still work fine, though.
You can choose a different theme color, reverse the progress animation & more
That’s not all, though, as you do have some additional options here. You can choose a different color if you want, and also force the display to stay on while the timer is running. You can also reverse the progress animation, and more.
On top of everything, the dark theme is also available in the app, if that’s what you prefer. All in all, the UI is great. It’s simple, and yet so modern and clean. It is, without a doubt, one of the best timer apps out there, all things considered.
Truth be said, not many people have the need for a countdown timer, but if you do use that feature frequently only on your device, you may want to try the Time Rise app.
