Tom Cruise Reveals Why He Chooses Not to Wear Helmets While Performing Risky Stunts

Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise recently disclosed the reason behind his decision not to wear helmets during the filming of the Mission Impossible franchise. In a recent interview with Australia’s The Sunday Project, Cruise explained that he avoids helmets because they don’t give off the “cool” vibe he aims for in his action-packed scenes.

While he emphasized the importance of safety during his motorcycle rides and training, Cruise clarified that when it comes to shooting action sequences for movies, he prefers not to wear protective gear. “I wear helmets when I ride motorcycles, and when I’m training, and I wear pads,” he stated. “But when you start to go film, all the pads come off. So I train in helmets, but when I’m jumping and racing high-speed bikes, then it’s not cinematic.”

During the interview, the acclaimed actor also delved into one of the most daring stunts he performed in Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One. In this film, Cruise had to execute a speed flying stunt—an exhilarating sport similar to paragliding but with flyers flying close to slopes to gather more speed. However, the closeness to the terrain makes the activity perilous, with a higher risk of collision.

Cruise’s dedication to delivering an authentic experience to the audience was evident when he shared, “I want to give everything. To have that experience, to see that, it communicates to an audience when it’s real. It’s different. There are stakes. There are real stakes.”

‘Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One’ is set to hit theatres on July 12, promising thrilling action and heart-stopping stunts that only Tom Cruise can deliver.
