0 165

Toyota is finally going to enter the mid-size SUV segment with the upcoming Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The new SUV was also recently leaked during a shoot. The new SUV will also have a counterpart from Maruti Suzuki with which parts and components will be shared. Here, we have a rendering of the upcoming Toyota Hyryder.

The rendering is done by SRK Designs and the video is uploaded on his YouTube channel. The base of the rendering is the Suzuki Vitara which is sold in the global markets. Then the face of the Toyota Harrier that is sold in the foreign market is placed. Further changes are done to incorporate the modifications. The SUV is finished in red colour with black roof which is taken from the Suzuki Vitara.

There are split headlamps just like we saw on the test mule and the leaked picture. There is a wide air dam and the LED Daytime Running Lamps are joined with the chrome strips that meet with the Toyota logo that has a blue halo around it. The blue halo is there because the upcoming SUV will be a hybrid. The skid plate takes the width of the whole bumper and is finished in dark grey. On the sides, there are 5-spoke alloy wheels.

The artist has not rendered the rear of the SUV. Having said that, it is important to note that this is just a rendering. It is not the final look of the Toyota Hyryder. The production-spec Hyryder will look different than this. We would have to wait for Toyota to launch the Hyryder to see what the production-spec model looks like.

Toyota will launch the Hyryder on 1st July. The picture that you see above is clicked during a shoot for a television commercial. The SUV was codenamed D22 till now. The design does seem inspired by a lot of other Toyota SUVs.

It is expected to be based on Toyota’s low-cost Daihatsu New Generation Architecture (DNGA). It is basically a low-cost version of the TNGA. Volkswagen also did the same with the MQB A0 and MQB A0-IN platform.

The Urban Cruiser Hyryder is expected to get a decent amount of feature list. There would be connected car features, an infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, keyless entry, push button to start/stop engine, multi-function steering wheel, automatic climate control and much more.

We also know that the Hyryder will be offered with two engine options. Both of them have a displacement of 1.5-litre. The lower-spec engine is a mild-hybrid unit that produces 105 PS. Then there is the higher-spec variant that gets a strong hybrid system. It produces 115 PS. The mild-hybrid engine will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The strong hybrid engine will be mated to an e-CVT automatic transmission only.
