Carrying some minor changes to the inside out, the facelifts manage to enhance the appeal of the vehicle and ease the ageing process. However, the owners of the pre-facelifted models are often left with the dated design and the condition of vehicle also deteriorates with time. This is where the process of after-market conversion comes into play and helps the owners freshen up their rides to the latest design. So today we have brought an exclusive conversion of a Toyota Innova Type 1 to a Type 4 model in a YouTube video by ‘Autorounders’.

At the beginning of the video, the presenter demonstrates that the vehicle is in a quite satisfactory condition and there are issues with almost all the major body panels. Along with this, the interiors are in pretty bad condition with worn-out seat covers as well as the steering unit, dashboard full of scratches and more. Talking about the process, all the necessary body panels like the bumpers, fenders etc. were replaced with type 4 units and the whole car was repainted from scratch. The video also demonstrates the process of new custom seat covers getting stitched.

Now coming back to the modification, the SUV now sports a new pair of projector headlamps replacing the old reflector units. Along with this, a new black grille, a front bumper, updated fog lamps and dechromed design elements complete the changes to the front fascia. The new silver paint scheme is similar to what we have seen on the Innova Crysta. Towards the sides, the MPV is awarded a new set of 16-inch alloy wheels from Innova Crysta with Ferrari red callipers. In addition to this, the ORVMs, door handles, logo and side bidding gets the gloss black treatment. The rear profile of the MPV features new LED tail lamps, a black finish on the upper part of the boot lid and an updated rear bumper design. Inside the cabin, a Black-Cream dual-tone finish has been given to the MPV. Apart from this, the steering wheel gets a new black finish with leather stitching, all-black centre console and manual window controls are replaced by new OEM electric units with all-new door trims.

In this video, the previous-gen type 1 Innova, launched in 2005 is converted into the 2013 type 4 model, which was the last update before it was replaced by the all-new Innova Crysta in 2016. In terms of powertrain, the old-gen model in the video used a 2.5 litre 102 bhp diesel engine. Now, the latest Innova Crysta uses a 2.4-litre Turbo Diesel engine churning out 150 bhp of maximum power. It is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox with 343 Nm of peak torque while the 6-speed automatic gearbox version gets 360 Nm of peak torque. It also gets a 2.7 litre 166 bhp petrol engine, paired with a 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox. The price of the Toyota Innova Crysta starts from Rs. 18.9 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs. 26.86 lakh (ex-showroom).
