The hip-hop community is mourning the loss of Lil Keed.

The 24-year-old MC died on Friday, a rep told Complex, and a cause of death has not yet been revealed. While his death was first announced by his brother and fellow MC Lil Gotit, others have been taking to social media to give Keed his flowers and pay tribute to the late rapper.

“Can’t believe I seened u die today bro I did all my cries,” Gotit wrote on Instagram. “I know what u want me to do and that’s go hard for Mama Daddy Our Brothers Naychur and Whiteboy.”

Keed was instrumental in building up the Young Stoner Life Records legacy alongside Young Thug, as he took part in both label-filled collaborative efforts Slime Language and Slime Language 2. The Atlanta spitter released two studio albums during his short career, in both 2019 and 2020, and was perhaps just as celebrated for his tapes Keed Talk to ‘Em, and A-Team with Zaytoven, Lil Gotit, and Lil Yachty.

“Back then, I was talking about stuff like typical rappers: shooting, killing, just saying shit because that’s what everybody wanted to hear,” Keed told Complex back in 2020. “I was just talking about the stuff that happened in the streets and stuff around me. Now that I done grew from all that and I done moved myself out of that situation, I’m letting folks know why I was so trapped on Cleveland, as far as me going to the hood every day and all the shootouts. I just had to move myself out of the situation to better myself and my family.”

Since his passing was announced, artists like Westside Gunn, Lil Gnar, and Doe Boy have been sharing thoughts about Keed to their socials. See what they had to see below.
