As announced by Twitter employee Prachi Poddar, users who subscribe to Twitter Blue can now post tweets up to 25000 characters long. To put that into perspective, this article up to this point is only 1135 characters. Your Tweet can be more than 22x longer. Tweet announced that this feature is available now, so you should be able to make much longer tweets right now. If not, then you’ll want to wait just a bit.
But what about the little guy?
Sure, we get it; Elon Musk is looking to make Twitter more profitable. With that comes the push to make Blue a compelling subscription. However, the company can’t forget about its free users. We’ve seen Twitter distribute several features to Blue, but leaving free users out in the dust like this could lead more people to flock to other platforms.
It’s important to prioritize the growth of Twitter Blue, but it’s also important to think about the app as a whole. One of the things that Elon Musk made a big deal about was the ability to let people edit their tweets. It’s available for Blue users, but the company said that it would eventually trick it down to free users. They’ve yet to see that feature. Hopefully, this doesn’t drive more people away from the platform.
