Twitter Inc. was accused of not paying its rent in a lawsuit filed by the landlord for one of its offices in San Francisco.

The landlord, Columbia Reit-650 California LLC, alleges that the social-media company has failed to pay $136,260 of rent due on the office space at 650 California St., according to the lawsuit filed Thursday.

Twitter didn’t respond immediately to a request for comment. The office is separate from the company’s headquarters, which is on Market Street.

The landlord said in the lawsuit it had informed Twitter in mid-December that the company would be in default on its rent obligations for space on the building’s 30th floor if it didn’t pay the sum within five business days.

The suit, which alleges breach of contract, was filed in California Superior Court in San Francisco. Bloomberg earlier reported on the lawsuit.

Other companies, including a software provider and a transportation company, also have sued Twitter in recent weeks in an effort to recoup what they say are overdue payments.

Elon Musk

has been working to cut costs at Twitter since he acquired the company in October in a deal valued at $44 billion. Twitter hasn’t booked an annual profit since 2019.
