Toyota Fortuner is undoubtedly one of the most popular SUV in its segment. Toyota launched the SUV over a decade ago and the popularity of the same does not seem to come down even a bit. Just like its popularity, the price of Toyota Fortuner SUV has also gone up over the years. People who have the first generation Fortuner are still using the same because it is extremely reliable. The only problem that many of them are facing currently is either with the body or the interios. The SUV would have started looking old in order to give them a fresh look, there are several workshops that are offering restoration and modification work. Here we have one such video where a type 1 Toyota Fortuner has been neatly restored and modified to look like type 2.

The video has been uploaded by Autorounders on their YouTube channel. In this video, the owner of the type 1 Fortuner had already given the SUV to some other garage. They even started working on it. It was then that the owner noticed videos from Autorounders and took his SUV to them. Whe the SUV arrived at the workshop, it was in a bad condition. Both exterior and interior of the SUV needed work. As the owner of the SUV was having a rough use for the SUV, he did not wish to go for any fancy modification.

He simply wanted to convert his type 1 Fortuner into a type 2 SUV. Along with that, he also opted for customised interiors too. The light coloured interiors were completely torn apart and were extremely dirty due to rough use. The work on the SUV started and the team started by marking all the dents on the body panels. The paint was removed from all the spots and the dents were fixed using a dent puller machine. Once the dent was fixed, the team removed the front grille, fenders, bonnet, headlamps, tail lamps from the SUV.

The whole SUV was cleaed and thin coat of putty was then applied on the body panels. This was done in order to achieve an even finish. Excess putty was also removed using a sander after it had dried out. Once the putty had dried, a coat of primer was applied on the whole car and then it was taken to the paint booth. As the owner was not looking for anything fancy, he opted for the same white colour as stock for this Fortuner. Every panel on the SUV was painted in the paint booth and a clear coat was also applied to achieve a glossy finish.

The type 2 headlamps, grille, fog lamps, tail lamps, fenders and bonnet were all painted and were installed. The SUV was looking good on the outside. Now coming to the interiors, the old seat covers and door pads were all removed. The dashboard of the SUV was also removed and painted black. The seat covers and door pads were done in black leatherette material with red stitching on it. The steering wheel was also wrapped in leather. The alloy wheels on this SUV were replaced with type 3 units and the brake calipers were painted Red. Overall, the SUV was looking extremely good and the owner was surprised by the way how his car got transformed. It looked like a brand new car right from the dealership.
