Unlike ‘Avatar 2,’ ‘Cocaine Bear’ Is Feasting on Streaming Success

As far as horror blockbusters are concerned, it’s fair to say that Cocaine Bear is relatively timid in that regard and instead falls more under the B-movie umbrella. But despite the gut-busting jokes and memes surrounding the Elizabeth Banks vehicle, it’s become apparent that the majority of Twitter is ecstatic to learn that the creature feature is now available to stream on Peacock — and fans are absolutely eating it up.

Interestingly enough, Cocaine Bear has gone and done the complete opposite of what Avatar: The Way of Water did just a few weeks ago. While James Cameron’s follow-up was consistently slaughtered online, the fictional retelling of an American black bear ingesting pounds of unidentified cocaine is catching its second wind all over again.

And if this collection of tweets is of any stark indication, then it’s clear that horror fanatics have been waiting for this day for a while now:

Considering how excited folks appear to be at watching the movie on streaming, it wouldn’t be too hard to believe that most didn’t head to the theater to watch back in February. Then again, when you take a step back and look at how positive this overall reaction is, perhaps the horror flick arriving on Peacock was just the extra boost that was needed for moviegoers to fall in love with the project all over again.

Who knows? Maybe all of this success will convince Banks to craft a nail-biting sequel. After all, the villain never truly dies in the end in horror. For now, Cocaine Bear is now available to stream on Peacock.
