Upcoming Kia Seltos facelift spotted in India before official launch

0 39

Ahead of its scheduled official launch in India in a few weeks, the Kia Seltos has been spotted undisguised on a public road. A red-coloured Kia Seltos facelift, completely revealed without any camouflage, was seen near the company’s production facility in Andhra Pradesh. This sighting provides a clear look at all the key changes brought to the facelifted model compared to the current version available for sale.

Compared to the pre-facelift model currently on sale, the facelifted Kia Seltos features a reworked front fascia. This includes a larger front bumper, revised front grille, and updated headlamp setup. The grille appears more muscular, while the headlamps showcase a redesigned look with new daytime running LEDs that extend into the grille. Additionally, the facelifted version receives more body cladding and body-coloured inserts around the fog lamps. A small rectangular box in the middle of the front bumper suggests the inclusion of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

The side profile of the Kia Seltos remains largely unchanged, except for the new design of the 17-inch alloy wheels, which resemble those available in the X-Line version of the current Seltos. The rear profile of the updated Seltos also undergoes a few changes, including body-coloured inserts around the reverse lamps integrated into the rear bumper, distinguishing it from the international-spec facelift of the Seltos. The new version is also equipped with two exhaust tips, although it is unclear whether they are functional or faux ports.

Changes in the cabin as well

The cabin of the Kia Seltos facelift receives a significant overhaul, featuring a rectangular cockpit layout reminiscent of the XUV700, with twin screens for the instrument console and touchscreen infotainment system. The revamped cabin also showcases slimmer-looking AC vents positioned below the infotainment screen and new controls for the automatic climate control.

In terms of features, the updated Seltos will introduce a panoramic sunroof and ADAS, in addition to standard six airbags, vehicle stability management, hill assist, and more.

The new Kia Seltos will retain the current 1.5-litre 115 PS naturally-aspirated petrol engine and the 1.5-litre 115 PS diesel engine. The 1.4-litre 140 PS turbocharged petrol engine was discontinued in the Kia Seltos lineup ahead of the BS6 phase-II emission norms deadline. However, with the facelift, the Seltos lineup will introduce the 1.5-litre 160 PS turbocharged petrol engine from the Carens.

A 6-speed manual gearbox will be the standard transmission option for all three engine choices. Optional transmissions offered in the updated Seltos include a CVT for the naturally-aspirated petrol engine, a 6-speed torque converter for the diesel engine, and a 7-speed DCT for the turbocharged petrol engine.

The updated Kia Seltos as caught by MotorBeam will continue to compete with rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and MG Astor. It will also face fresh competition from the soon-to-be-launched Honda Elevate and Citroen C3 Aircross.
