Updated Tata Yodha pickup gets modern looks, 4×4 & costs just Rs 10 lakh

Indian market is still not very welcoming when it comes to pick up trucks as private vehicles. Many manufacturers have tried this segment but have never found success. Things only started to change after the launch of Isuzu V-Cross in India. It is now a very commonly spotted 4×4 lifestyle pick-up truck in India. After Isuzu, even Toyota launched the Hilux in the market which is again very popular in international markets. Tata recently launched a facelift version of their Yodha pick up truck. This is a commercial pick up truck which is available with both 2WD and 4×4 options.

The video has been uploaded by Team Car Delight on their YouTube channel. The Yodha pick-up truck is available in single and dual-cab options. The single-cab version is known as Yodha 2.0  and dual-cab version is called EX Crew cab. Price for the new Yodha starts at Rs 9.99 lakh, ex-showroom. The exterior design of the Yodha has been revised and it now looks more muscular and matured than before. Most of the changes are limited to the exterior only. It gets a three-piece bumper with silver inserts around the fog lamp area. There is a silver skid plate too.

The headlamps are halogen units and retain the same old design as before. The front grille has been revised and there is a chrome strip on it.  Updated Tata Yodha gets a 210mm of ground clearance. The pick-up is 5,350 mm long, 1,860 mm wide and 1,810 mm tall. The pickup gets 16 inch steel rims. As this is aimed at the commercial sector, it does not come with an alloy wheel. It has a kerb weight of 3,840 kg and a payload capacity varying between 1,200 kg to 1,700 kg. Coming to the interiors, Tata is offering a grey-coloured interior for Yodha. The design is quite basic and it comes with tilt adjustable three-spoke steering wheel, manual AC, 1-DIN audio system, and so on. The parking brake on Yodha is repositioned and it is placed on the right-hand side of driver’s seat.

The deck bed on the updated Yodha can be opened from three sides. The Tata Yodha is powered by a 2.2-litre four-cylinder DI diesel engine, which produces a maximum power output of 100 PS and a peak torque output of 250 Nm. It is the same engine that it was available with the previous version. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard and both single-cab and dual-cab variants come with rear-wheel drive and 4×4 options. Both variants come with leaf spring suspension and steel rims as mentioned above. pickup trucks are slowly becoming popular in the private segment. Even SUV manufacturers like Mahindra tried this segment with Scorpio Getaway. Before Yodha, even Tata had a dual-cab pickup Xenon for the private segment buyers. Both these pick-ups were equally practical, capable and affordable however, they did not appeal much to the buyers. Tata is offering the Yodha only for the commercial segment and it competes with commercial pickup trucks like Mahindra Bolero Camper, Isuzu D-Max, Mahindra Bolero Pik Up extra strong in the segment.
