Despite it being one of the oldest products in its price range, the Mahindra Scorpio is still averaging more than 2,000 units per month. Here’s a video which says a lot about the strong demand for the Mahindra Scorpio.
In one of his recent Twitter posts, a user named Shakti Chaturvedi uploaded a video which shows a train carrying a string of carriers having units of Mahindra Scorpio on their flat beds. This fleet of Mahindra Scorpio is being shipped by Indian Railways, which is one of the tried methods of transportation of vehicles by Mahindra in distant regions. In this video, we can see the units of Scorpio in the traditional white and black colour options on the flatbeds of carriers, which are the two most sought after colour options in the Scorpio.

Quicker delivery
Along with the video, the Twitter user also mentioned that it is a strong possibility that due to faster delivery through Indian Railways, the Mahindra Scorpio has an easier availability in many parts of the country. The tweet gained a fair amount of attention, including a reply from the Chairman of Mahindra Group, Mr Anand Mahindra.
In his reply, Anand Mahindra said that he is unsure about the sooner availability of Scorpio due to faster delivery by Indian Railways. However, he thanked Indian Railways for its efficient services. He also added that he is elated after seeing this post, which is a matter of pride for Mahindra as a vehicle manufacturer.
The Mahindra Scorpio is currently available as a diesel-only SUV, which will be rebranded as Scorpio Classic after the arrival of the all-new Scorpio-N. The new Scorpio-N will be offered in multiple variants with petrol-manual, petrol-automatic, diesel-manual and diesel-automatic combinations. However, the Scorpio Classic will retain the diesel-manual combination with rear-wheel-drive as standard.
The new Mahindra Scorpio Classic, like the current iteration of the Scorpio, will be targeted more toward smaller towns and rural areas, where the demand for the SUV is still strong. It will continue to be offered with a 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine with a 6-speed gearbox, which produces 138 PS of maximum power and 319 Nm of maximum torque.
