[Video] We checked out Samsung’s Neo QLED TVs, powered by AI

Just before CES 2024, Samsung unveiled its latest generation of Neo QLED TVs. There are 4K and 8K models in the lineup, just like last year, but they are now available in more sizes, and all the models have received new features and improved picture quality. We had a chance to check them out during our tour of CES 2024 in Las Vegas, USA.

All the new Neo QLED TVs from Samsung now feature AI-powered features. The most prominent feature of these new TVs is the new NQ8 AI Gen3 processor that features a 15% faster CPU, 40% faster GPU, and 2x faster NPU than the NQ8 AI Gen2 processor used in last year’s TVs. All this processing power is used to upscale lower-resolution content from local or streaming files to 8K on Neo QLED 8K TVs. We were impressed by Samsung’s demo that showcased 480p, 720p, and 1080p content upscaled to 8K resolution using the 8K AI Upscaling Pro feature.

The AI also handles improved audio delivery, thanks to features like Active Voice Amplifier Pro that accentuates audio of specific things to make them clearer in some scenes. Motion and text are also improved with the help of the chip’s 512 AI neural networks. The new TVs also support Q-Symphony 4.0, which allows you to connect multiple wireless speakers and soundbars. The TVs also run the latest version of Tizen OS, bringing improved Samsung TV Plus, Samsung Gaming Hub, SmartThings, Matter, and various other features you can check out in our full video above.

Samsung’s Neo QLED TV lineup features a Mini-LED backlighting structure for higher contrast, better brightness, deeper blacks, and more control over local dimming than QLED and regular LCD TVs. These TVs also support up to 240Hz refresh rate, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, and Game Bar 4.0 to enhance the gaming experience. Of course, there is support for HDR10+, HDR10+ Adaptive, and HDR10+ Gaming. Dolby Atmos support is present, too. However, these TVs lack Dolby Vision and Chromecast support. They support Alexa, AirPlay 2, Bixby, Google Assistant, Smart View, Tap Sound, and more.
