0 44

Rajdoot is a brand name that many of us reading this article grew up with. Popular models from Rajdoot include the 175, RD350, and so on. However, one motorcycle that many people forget is the Rajdoot GTS 175, better known as Bobby. It is a motorcycle with monkey bike-like styling. The motorcycle became popular among buyers after the Bollywood movie “Bobby”. It was so popular that Rajdoot sold over 1.5 million units during its production tenure.

The video has been shared by BikeWithGirl on their YouTube channel. In this video, the rider takes the small Bobby motorcycle out for a spin. The motorcycle is actually owned by an ex-army man whom we get to see in the video. The rider was too excited about the overall look of the motorcycle, as she has not seen or ridden something this small. She really likes the design elements on the motorcycle, like the shield over the exhaust, spare wheel with a retro wheel cover, and so on.

The key insert hole was placed on the head of the motorcycle, and as it weighed under 100 kgs, it was very easy to move around. This was a minibike powered by a 173 cc, single-cylinder, 2-stroke engine. The iconic 2-stroke engine note with smoke was very visible in the video. The vlogger rode the bike on the roads of Mumbai, and all her excitement went away. She said that the motorcycle was not at all refined, and she could feel the vibrations all over her body.

The brakes on this motorcycle were not the best. She tried applying brakes at very slow speeds, and even then they were not working. It should be noted that the motorcycle doesn’t get disc brakes or any modern tech on it. The top speed of the bike was around 50 kmph, but it was so crude that no one would dare to ride at such speeds constantly. Another odd thing that the rider felt when she took the bike for a ride was the number of gears. The Bobby only has 3 gears. As a person who has ridden multiple modern bikes, it was very odd, as her foot kept looking for more gears.

This motorcycle is very slow when compared to modern two-wheelers on our roads. It is definitely a cute little bike that would attract a lot of attention on the road. The Rajdoot GTS 175 was powered by a 173cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, two-stroke engine that churned out 7.5 Bhp of power along with 12.7 Nm of torque. For the rider, riding the Bobby was definitely a unique experience as she has not ridden many bikes like this in the past. Under the video that was posted on YouTube, there is a comment by a user who claims that his father was the person who designed this motorcycle. In this comment, he shares a new angle to the story of Rajdoot GTS 175. His father was a design engineer at Escorts in Delhi.

His father was given the duty to come up with a way to use all the surplus parts from a scooter that had failed in the market. Using all these parts, his father designed the GTS 175 and gave it a classic motorcycle-like styling. The motorcycle was popular in the race circuits and also among people who watched the Bobby film and became fans of it.
