Vivo Unveils Global Funtouch OS 13 Based On Android 13

0 44

Vivo has announced a new version of its Android-based OS. Global Funtouch OS 13 is now official, and it’s based on Android 13, of course. This skin will be rolling out to both Vivo and iQOO devices.

The company not only changed up the design with this build, but it also added a number of personalization options, improved security, and privacy, improved smoothness, and more. Let’s go over what’s new, shall we?

App pinning feature

When it comes to privacy and security, Vivo did have something to say here. The new app pinning feature is supposed to help with that. Vivo introduced a two-level pinning capability that will keep the chosen app in view, and block everything else for whoever uses the phone. That way you can give your phone to someone to check something, without them being able to leave the app you chose. In other words, nobody will be able to snoop around your phone.

Monochrome icons & color adjustments

Funtouch OS 13 will bring various new customization options. You’ll be able to match your home screen icons to your chosen background, system, and app interfaces with the monochrome icon feature.

Funtouch OS 13 will also allow you to adjust the colors of built-in apps, and various parts of the system, such as the notification panel, volume controls, clock, calculator, and more.

Professional camera viewfinder

Vivo will be (slightly) changing its camera layout in Funtouch OS 13 as well. The company has introduced a professional viewfinder, with a stabilizer ring to make things simpler. Everything will be at the tip of your finger here. The layout didn’t change much, but it’s an improvement.

New video editing option

New video editing options will also be available. You’ll be able to mute the video while editing, and change the volume of each segment as you see fit.

Effects Master

A new feature called the ‘Effects Master’ is also coming, at least based on Fonearena, as that part was not included in the press release. This is basically the equivalent to choosing photographic styles on iPhones. You’ll be able to swipe across the viewfinder to choose a style.

Hidden album

You’ll also be able to hide some of your images and video natively in Funtouch OS 13. If you have some truly private images or videos, you can easily hide them, and protect them with a PIN/fingerprint scanner.

Digital Accessibility

Vivo is adding some new accessibility services to Funtouch OS 13. Color correction, color inversion, and animation removal will all be readily available in the settings.

These are only some of the changes that are coming. We’re in for a lot more goodies. A beta version of this update started rolling out yesterday. It’s first coming to the Vivo X80 Pro, while many other phones will follow soon. We’re not sure when will the stable build drop, but it’s expected in the near future. Check out the image below to see which phones are scheduled to get the beta update, and when.
