In an interesting turn of events recently Volkswagen dealerships in Gujarat operated by Group Landmark have been inducted into the Asia Book of Records (ABR) and India Book of Records (IBR) for the most single model Volkswagen automobiles sold by a dealer in a single day. The ABR and IBR authorities presented the certificate for the record to Garima Misra, Managing Director, Group Landmark, during a ceremony in New Delhi. The dealership delivered approximately 165 units of the all-new Volkswagen Virtus across Gujarat on the first day of delivery, June 21, 2022.

Commenting on the achievement of this record, Sanjay Thakker, Chairman and Founder, Group Landmark, said, “We are absolutely thrilled to receive this honor from Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records. The new record is a testament to not only Group Landmark’s expansive network but also the delightful customer experiences the brand promises and continues to deliver. The achievement also serves to demonstrate the phenomenal response that the new Volkswagen sedan has received from customers across Gujarat.” He added, “As we go forward, our customers can be certain that Group Landmark will continue to be the premier one-stop destination for their car-buying needs.”

Meanwhile, Garima Misra, Managing Director, Group Landmark, stated, “We were certain that Volkswagen Virtus would reignite the premium midsize sedan segment and the overwhelming response from customers acts as a testament. The fact that Group Landmark’s name is now registered in the Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records is an incredible honor and it is our endeavor to continue offering our customers the best of products & services.”

Earlier this month another Volkswagen dealer in India delivered 150 units of the Virtus in a single day. EVM Volkswagen which is located in Cochin, Kerala organised a mega delivery event by inviting all the owners simultaneously. Before the Gujrat-based dealership took the record it was held by the EVM VW dealer.

The new Volkswagen Virtus is built on the MQB A0 IN platform, which also serves as the foundation for the VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and Skoda Slavia. The new Virtus is larger in size than the Slavia. It also takes the place of the discontinued Jetta in the lineup. The car’s top-tier GT Line trim level includes items such as a boot-mounted spoiler.

The Virtus is available in two trim levels: Dynamic Line and Performance Line. It is comparable to the VW Taigun. The Dynamic Line has three variations. The Dynamic Line variations are only available with the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Only the GT Plus model is available in the top-tier Performance Line. It only comes with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine and an automatic DSG gearbox.

The Virtus comes with two engine options from Volkswagen. These are the same engines found in the Skoda Slavia, VW Taigun, and Skoda Kushaq. The 1.0-litre TSI engine produces 115 PS of maximum power and 178 Nm of maximum torque. With this engine, VW provides a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic transmission.

A Volkswagen dealer in Kochi, Kerala had set a record by delivering 150 Virtus sedans recently. The new record beats that.
