Watch Green Day Busk in the New York City Subway on ‘Fallon’

0 31

The band’s 14th album, Saviors, is out now

As captured on social media earlier this week, Green Day hit the New York City Subway to showcase songs from their new album, Saviors. The punk band joined The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon at the 50th Street station, where they dressed in disguise to perform the band’s hit 1994 “Basket Case” and a cover of Bad Company’s “Feel Like Makin’ Love.”

Once they started playing, of course, the band stripped off their disguises. Fallon grabbed a tambourine to take part in the performance.

Although only two songs made it to air on the late-night show, The Tonight Show released a bonus video with performances of two new songs, “Dilemma” and “Look Ma, No Brains!,” which appear on their latest LP Saviors, as well as “American Idiot.”

Saviors, the band’s 14th album, is out today. It marks Green Day’s first LP since 2020’s Father of All Motherfuckers and features singles “Dilemma,” “The American Dream Is Killing Me,” and “Look Ma, No Brains.”

Green Day have scheduled a massive North American summer tour in support of Saviors and also to celebrate the respective 30th and 20th anniversaries of Dookie and American Idiot. The trek kicks off July 29 in Washington, D.C., and wraps Sept. 28 in San Diego. Green Day will receive support from the Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid, and the Linda Lindas.

On the tour, Green Day will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their debut Dookie and the 20th anniversary of American Idiot by playing both landmark albums in their entirety. “What a fuckin’ moment it’s going to be,” Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt told Rolling Stone. “We’ve never done anything like this before. And there’s a really good chance we’ll never do it again.”
