Watch Reba McEntire Sing National Anthem During 2024 Super Bowl – The Hollywood Reporter

0 27

Before Super Bowl LVIII got underway on Sunday, Reba McEntire took to the field to perform an emotional National Anthem.

The Country Music Hall of Famer brought some of the players and audience members to tears with her beautiful rendition. She was wearing black pants with sparkly strings on them, paired with a tan, shiny blazer, and a large belt buckle.

As the National Anthem came to an end, a U.S. Navy flyover also soared over Allegiant Stadium.

Throughout her decades-long career in the music industry, McEntire has scored 24 No. 1 hits on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, including “Somebody,” “Turn on the Radio,” “Consider Me Gone,” “How Blue” and “Whoever’s In New England.” She has also won three Grammy Awards.

McEntire’s performance follows country singer Chris Stapleton, who sang the National Anthem at last year’s game before the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles.

This moment has been 50 years in the making for the legendary singer after she was initially discovered while singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the 1974 National Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City. Ahead of the big game, she recently said in an interview with Apple Music that getting the opportunity to sing on a national stage like the Super Bowl was extra special for her.

“I am honored beyond words to be chosen to get to sing it,” McEntire said. “It means that I get to sing a very special song for all Americans, people all around the world who have really worked so hard for our freedom and to give us peace. … It’s not about me. I’m the representation of this song, and I’m just honored to get to sing it.”

Other performers who took to the field on Sunday included Post Malone, who sang “America the Beautiful,” and Andra Day, who performed “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” Usher is also headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show later in the game.

The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers are facing off in Las Vegas for Super Bowl LVIII.
