The interiors have an arch-shaped roof, aligning well with the positions of the driver’s and passenger’s seats.

Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has shared the first glimpses of the interiors of its debut electric vehicle, the SU7, scheduled for launch later this year.

While the exterior design was showcased in December, the interiors remained a mystery until now. The company is moving away from the minimalist interiors favoured by other automakers, opting for a driver-centric design featuring buttons seamlessly combined with modern technology.

This shift is far more user-friendly and practical compared to of large and confusing touchscreen console. The strategically positioned four buttons, located under the driver’s right hand, offer easy control over essential functions.

Along with a Start/Stop button at the top, the other four switches control key functions such as temperature, fan strength, electric rear wing and air suspension. According to Car News China, Xiaomi Auto has claimed that buttons are the most natural way for human-machine interaction, developing an emotional connection. The addition of switches ensures these controls can be operated without looking at them, promoting a safe experience for the driver.

Meanwhile, the Xiaomi SU7’s design is simple, with a dual-tone interior scheme and a spacious panoramic sunroof. The vehicle’s interiors have other key features, such as a large display screen providing vehicle information, navigation and entertainment system, which can also be connected to users’ phones. Positioned just below the screen is a wireless charging area with 55W fast charging support. Additionally, a cup holder complements the design.

The interiors have an arch-shaped roof, aligning well with the positions of the driver’s and passenger’s seats. This design provides ample headroom for passengers, along with a spacious and well-lit cabin. The steering wheel itself comes with a soft cover featuring a large Xiaomi logo at the centre. Interestingly, the SU7 provides rear seat passengers with two independent screens, separate from the front touchscreen display, for their personal entertainment.

According to Autohome, the sports seat in the Xiaomi SU7 is designed to fit the natural curve of the human body, providing excellent support for passengers. The innovative seat cushion has 3D Mesh mesh in the upper layer, while the middle layer has 15mm memory foam, offering comfort and softness for shorter rides.

The lower layer is made of PU material, known for its durability and perfect for long-distance journeys. Overall, the layout and features aim to enhance the driving experience, offering both comfort and aesthetics for passengers and drivers.

While the price and delivery dates remain undisclosed, the Xiaomi SU7 is expected to be one of the major vehicles at the Beijing Auto Show in April.
