Who would win a drag

0 41

Volkswagen Virtus is currently one of the fastest sedans in the segment. It was launched in the market earlier this year and it competes with cars like Honda City, Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai Verna and even Skoda Slavia. The car is available with two petrol engine options and we have seen several videos of Volkswagen Virtus online. In the past we have seen several videos on internet where cars or bikes that belong from same or different segments engage in drag races. These drag races show how two vehicles behave in same conditions. Here we have a video where an Audi Q2 SUV and a Volkswagen Virtus GT sedan are competing against each other in a drag race.

The video has been uploaded by Pratham Shokeen on his YouTube channel. In this video, the vlogger shows an Audi Q2 SUV which is currently the entry level SUV from the German car maker in India. The Q2 seen here is powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine that generates 188 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. It comes with Quattro AWD system and is mated a 7-speed Stronic transmission. The Virtus on the other hand looks like a brand new sedan as there was no registration plate on it. The car seen here is the GT variant which is powered by a 1.5 litre, turbocharged petrol engine that generates 150 Ps and 250 Nm of peak torque.

On paper, it was looking all good for Audi Q2. It was more powerful and was generating more torque. The AWD system would also help the car in getting a good launch. The vlogger prepares for the race and sits in the Audi Q2. His friend is driving the Virtus. Both cars have 2 passengers including the driver in it. The traction control has been turned off in both the cars while the AC is running. Both the drivers line up the cars for the race and the race starts. Both engaged the S mode for this first round. The Audi Q2’s AWD system helped it get a good launch. Even the Virtus GT moved off the line quite aggressively. The Audi took the lead almost immediately.

The vlogger was looking happy with the performance of the Q2 but, suddenly they notice that that the Virtus is gaining on them and at around 120 kmph mark, the Virtus GT overtakes Q2 from the other lane. Vlogger was surprised with the results and immediately felt that there was something wrong with the car. In the second round, the cars were launched in normals Drive mode and even then the Q2 managed to get an aggressive launch but at 90 kmph mark, the Virtus overtakes them from the other lane.

For the third round, vlogger sat in the Virtus and his friend sat inside Q2. In third round, every setting remains same. Q2 moves off the start line aggressively but after a point, Virtus overtakes the SUV which is way more powerful. Audi Q2 was not performing well and that is one of the reason why Virtus GT managed to win the race. The condition of the vehicle matters a lot in such drag races. The tyre pressure and condition of the tyres also affect the performance during such races. Virtus GT was announced as the winner in this race but, if the Q2 was in good condition, we feel the results might have been different.
