“Why Are You Sitting?“: Madonna Accidentally Calls Out Fan In Wheelchair For Not Standing Up

Not so “politically correct.” Madonna mistakenly scolded a fan for not standing at one of her concerts, only to realize that the person was in a wheelchair, sparking outrage online.

The 65-year-old Queen of Pop wasn’t too happy after seeing that amongst the cheering crowd during her show on Thursday (March 7) in Los Angeles, USA, a person wasn’t standing up before understanding that the concert-goer was wheelchair-bound.

Madonna reportedly performed at the Kia Forum as part of her Celebration Tour when she made the now-viral remark.

“What are you doing sitting down over there? What are you getting sitting down?” Madonna asked before walking to the edge of the stage to get a closer listen to the fan, The New York Post reported.

The songstress quickly realized that she had made an embarrassing mistake, explaining: “Oh, OK. Politically incorrect. Sorry about that. I’m glad you are here.”

Various clips of the mortifying moment spread across social media, with people commenting on TikTok: “That is a sad apology! What the heck. Refund them their ticket!!”

Another person wrote: “She did not apologize enough.”

A separate individual chimed in: “Maam, there are 100 reasons why someone might sit- and all of them are valid.”

The 1980s music icon has scheduled 80 concerts as part of her Celebration Tour, planned to take place in cities across North America and Europe, beginning in October 2023 and concluding on April 26 in Mexico City.

The clumsy remark marked Madonna’s most recent blunder during her tour, which commemorates four decades of her musical achievements.

You can watch Madonna’s blunder below:

In February, the Like A Virgin singer fell off stage while performing at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, USA, as per The Post.

A video showed Madonna falling backward in her chair during the show at the time. And before her tour was scheduled to start, Madonna had reportedly spent several days in the ICU because of a severe bacterial infection, forcing her to postpone shows planned for North America.

“It’s a miracle that I’m alive,” she said during her Brooklyn stop at Barclays Center in December 2023, per USA Today. “I feel like I’m one of the lucky ones… Let’s take a moment to be grateful.”

“She needs to be humbled,” a reader commented
