Why your iPhone battery is draining after iOS 16.5 update

0 34

Many iPhone users have complained about battery on their iPhones draining quickly after the new iOS 16.5 update. Users have filled the Apple forum and Twitter with complaints and queries about the new battery drain issue.

One user on the Apple forum complained, “The battery depletion is getting worse. I turn my phone off when sleeping, the moment i boot it up it shown 20%, after entering password and loaded every notifications it depleted 2% instantly, then i opened WA to read messages it depleted 1%. It happened in just less than 5 minutes.”

Some users on Twitter also pointed out that the maximum capacity on their iPhones dropped after updating to the latest version of iOS.

Notably, battery drain issues on iPhones are not new. Users on social media have been complaining about battery drainage issues after virtually every major update.

However, a Macworld report claims that battery drainage issues after updating to a new version of iOS are not uncommon and happen due to the new operating system performing a slew of tasks like rescanning photos and performing background operations.

In a tweet in April 2022, Apple had also confirmed that it is normal for your iPhone’s battery to drain after a new update but the good news is things should be back to normal in just 48 hours. Replying to a query about battery drainage on iOS 15.4, Apple support wrote, “Thanks for reaching out! We’ll be happy to help. It’s normal for your apps and features to need to adjust up to 48 hours after an update.”

All the new features in iOS 16.5:

Sports tab in Apple News

iOS 16.5 has added a new sports page in the Apple News app. Users will be able to follow their favourite sports teams, players, and different leagues. Additionally, My Sports score and schedule cards in Apple News will take users to the game pages where they can find additional details about specific games

In a release note about the new feature, Apple said, “Sports tab in Apple News gives easy access to stories, scores, standings, and more, for the teams and leagues you follow.”

Pride Celebration wallpaper

Apple has launched a new Pride Celebration wallpaper to honour the LGBTQ+ community and their culture. The new wallpaper can be used on both the lock and home screens and comes with some interesting animations.

Bug fixes

Apple has fixed many issues with iOS 16.5 including an issue where Spotlight may become unresponsive, the issue with Podcasts in CarPlay not loading content, and an issue where Screen Time settings may have reset or not sync across all devices.

Interestingly, an earlier version of the iOS 16.5 beta came with a new Siri command to start and stop screen recording. The feature was removed in later beta versions and has been kept out of the final release of iOS 16.5
