0 31

Xiaomi has just announced its Xiaomi 13 family of smartphones globally. The announcement took place in Barcelona, as part of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023. The company announced three devices, the Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13 Pro, and the Xiaomi 13 Lite.

The Xiaomi 13 series goes global

The Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro already launched in China back in December, it was just a matter of time before they arrive to global markets. The ‘Lite’ model did not launch prior to today, so this is its initial announcement.

Now, you can presume that the ‘Lite’ model is inferior to the other two. That handset comes with mid-range specifications, while the other two are high-end offerings from Xiaomi. We’ll talk about all three below.

Xiaomi 13 Pro

The Xiaomi 13 Pro is the most powerful out of the phones Xiaomi announced today. It comes with a 1-inch camera sensor, Leica’s lenses, and the most powerful processor Qualcomm has to offer. Let’s talk about its design first, though.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro is made out of metal and ceramic. It comes in Black and White Ceramic variants. It has a curved display, though that panel is not curved to extreme levels. Three cameras are placed on the back, and it has a centered display camera hole.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 fuels this smartphone, while you get 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM here, and either 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.0 flash storage. A 6.73-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate is also included. That display has an adaptive refresh rate, and can get up to 1,900 nits of peak brightness.

Android 13 comes pre-installed on the phone, with MIUI 14. A 4,820mAh battery is also thrown into the mix, and it supports 120W wired charging. 50W wireless charging is also supported, as is 10W reverse wireless charging. A charger is included in the box.

A 50-megapixel main camera (Sony’s 1-inch camera sensor, IMX989) sits on the back of the, along with a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera (115-degree FoV), and a 50-megapixel telephoto camera. All cameras have Leica’s lenses on top.

The Xiaomi 13 is not as powerful as the ‘Pro’ model, but it’s not far from it. This phone has flat sides, and a flat display, unlike its sibling. It is made out of metal and glass, and it does have a centered display camera hole.

This handset is also fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. It packs in 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and 256GB of UFS 4.0 flash storage. A 6.36-inch fullHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display is included here, and it’s flat. It also gets immensely bright at 1,900 nits of peak brightness.

Android 13 comes pre-installed, along with MIUI 14. A 4,500mAh battery sits inside the device, and the phone supports 67W wired charging. 50W wireless charging is also supported, as is 10W reverse wireless charging. A charger is included in the box.

A 54-megapixel main camera (Sony’s IMX800 sensor) sits on the back of this phone. A 12-megapixel ultrawide camera (120-degree FoV) is also included, as is a 10-megapixel telephoto camera. This handset also comes with Leica’s lenses, all three cameras have them.

The Xiaomi 13 Lite is the only mid-range handset in the series. The device has a pill-shaped camera cutout on the front, which hosts two cameras. A flat display is used, and its backplate is curved towards the sides. It does have thin bezels around the screen, and it looks quite modern. Its rear camera island does look different compared to the other two phones, though.

The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC fuels this handset, Qualcomm’s mid-range chip. Xiaomi included 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM inside of the phone, while you can choose between 128GB and 256GB of UFS 2.2 flash storage.

Android 12 comes pre-installed on this phone for some reason, but MIUI 14 does come on top of it. A 4,500mAh battery is also included, and the phone supports 67W wired charging. This phone also comes with a charger in the box.

A 50-megapixel main camera (Sony’s IMX766 sensor) is included on the back, along with an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera (Sony’s IMX355 sensor, 119-degree FoV). A 2-megapixel macro camera (82-degree FoV) also sits on the back. On the front, a 32-megapixel ultrawide camera (100-degree FoV) sits, along with an 8-megapixel depth sensor.

We still don’t have the availability information for the device, and that includes the price tags. Xiaomi will likely soon announce them, and if that happens, we’ll update this article.
