Xiaomi 13 Ultra global launch timeline tipped: specifications

0 28

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is lately the most-anticipated smartphone from the Chinese phone-maker’s stable. The most recent leak is here, and it talks about the phone’s global launch timeline. This is particularly interesting since Xiaomi did not launch their half-year upgrade, the Xiaomi 12S series, globally last year and restricted it to China.

As per a tweet by reputed tipster SnoopyTech, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will launch in May 2023. This information suggests the launch has been pushed two months later than the initially expected February release. The leak does indeed come from a trusted source, considering SnoopyTech has been accurate about certain high-profile leaks before.

Notably, predecessor Xiaomi 12S Ultra was launched in China in July last year, but did not make it to global markets. The 13 Ultra, however, is expected to come to international markets, which was confirmed by Xiaomi CEO as early as August 2022.

As for features, the back case images of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra were leaked online recently. While the images didn’t give out much, they did reveal a massive circular rear camera module. This is reminiscent of the 12S Ultra, which sports a similar design, again igniting a theory which circulated last year which suggested the Xiaomi 13 Ultra may be a modified 12S Ultra. The rear setup could house four cameras, laser autofocus, LED flash, and other features.

In terms of specifications, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is rumoured to get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, coupled with 12GB of RAM. It is further expected to sport a large 6.9-inch display, with resolution and refresh rate unknown. The phone could get a combo of two 50MP and two 12MP rear cameras, and a 32MP selfie camera up front. And, there could be a 5,500mAh battery providing you the much-needed juice on this flagship device.

As a side note, the Chinese giant has also confirmed that there will be no Xiaomi 13S Ultra smartphone, as the company looks to ditch the half-yearly models. Whether this is a permanent decision, or one that is a result of processor procurement issues, is something that remains to be seen.
