XUV700’s on-board dashcam captures video

In addition to the accolades it is winning with its looks, features and mechanicals, the Mahindra XUV700 also scored big on the parameter of safety, when it secured a full 5-star rating in the Global NCAP crash tests. There are several examples available on the internet which explain the sturdy build quality of the SUV. Here’s the latest one, in which the XUV700 performed great against a rearward impact.
In a video uploaded by Prateek Singh on YouTube, we can see a Mahindra XUV700 rear-ended by a Toyota Etios Cross, as a result of which both vehicles got damaged. The video is from a busy street in Mangaluru, where a Mahindra XUV700 was being driven with a Toyota Etios Cross coming behind it. However, while driving, the XUV700 driver slowed down as another car moving ahead of him started making a U-turn.

While the XUV700 driver slowed down gradually, the Etios Cross driver behind him didn’t respond the same, and as a result, the Etios Cross hit the XUV700 from behind. The entire accident, including the moment when the Etios Cross hit the XUV700, got recorded in the 360-degree camera of the XUV700, proving that it was the Etios Cross driver who was at the fault here. In the last scene of the video, the XUV700 driver is seen approaching the Etios Cross driver, possibly to confront him for the damage caused.
The video also shows images of the impact caused on both vehicles due to the accident. While the XUV700 suffered from minor damage to its rear bumper, the damages of the Etios Cross look more prominent with a damaged bonnet and front bumper. The accident involving both these vehicles was not a high-speed one, otherwise, the impact and damages caused in both vehicles could have been substantial.
XUV700 is a five-star rated car
The Mahindra XUV700 is one of the few vehicles in India which has been awarded a 5-star rating in the crash tests of Global NCAP. The SUV scored 16.03 points out of 17 for adult occupant protection and 41.66 points out of 49 for child occupant protection.
The XUV700 is not the only Mahindra vehicle to have won a 5-star rating to date, as previously, the XUV300 has been awarded the same. In addition, a couple of other Mahindras, like Marazzo and Thar, also have shown their prowess in build quality and safety by scoring 4-star ratings in the crash tests.
Both the Mahindra XUV700 and Toyota Etios Cross have proven their prowess in safety at the Global NCAP crash tests. While the XUV700 has scored a full 5-star rating, the Etios Cross also secured a commendable 4-star rating in the Global NCAP crash tests. The Etios Cross was a rugged-looking version of the Etios Liva hatchback, which came with added body mouldings all around, front and rear skid plates, a slightly more aggressive-looking front grille and roof rails. Toyota had discontinued the Etios Cross before the BS6 emission norms kicked in.
