Ye Teases Plans to Build Donda University Campus on Young Thug’s Land

The artist formerly known as Kanye West has teased plans for the construction and launch of Donda University.

In an Instagram post overnight, Ye shared a screenshot of a text exchange with an unnamed individual who asked him about adding onto the property in California that’s currently used for the Donda Academy school, which serves students ranging in education level from pre-K to 12th grade.

When answering the question, Ye referenced the previously mentioned property in Georgia offered, free of charge, by Young Thug amid Yeezy retail expansion discussions earlier this month.

“I’d rather move [to] the trees on Young Thug property,” West said. “I got 2 Chainz calling the mayor now. To launch build Donda University.”

While additional information wasn’t shared, Ye did add in the post’s caption, “God told me build the campus.”

Around the same time, Ye announced the “releasing” of grudges.

“Life is precious,” he wrote when sharing photos of Queen Elizabeth II, who died Thursday at the age of 96. He also shared a post reminding people that his name is Ye (He was reported to have formally changed his name last year).

While Donda University info remains scarce, aside from fan discussion and related speculation, Donda Academy is presently active and—per its official website—accepting applications for the 2023/2024 school year. The daily Donda Academy schedule includes worship, core classes, enrichment courses (including film and parkour), lunch, and recess.

Ye’s recent IG activity has largely focused on airing out issues in connection with his relationships with Gap and Adidas, although the “releasing all grudges” message on Thursday could suggest any such issues are now on less shaky ground.

As for music, Ye rolled out the long-teased “Use This Gospel” remix by way of DJ Khaled’s God Did album last month. The song features Eminem, who ultimately earned his first No. 1 on the Hot Christian Songs chart with the track.
