Google’s prepaid wireless carrier, Google Fi, is now getting rebranded as Google Fi Wireless. Well, it’s not that Google simply added the suffix ‘Wireless’ to Google Fi. There are additional perks, expanded support for smartwatches, a redesigned app, and a better family plan focus.

Moreover, adding the word wireless at the end of Google Fi makes it easier to understand the service. The logo is also new, with the ‘F’ now made of dots and pills in the company’s colors. Google has positioned the ‘Simply Unlimited’ plan as a flexible and secure phone plan for families. For $80/month, you get two or four lines and all the family essentials you need to stay connected with your family. You also get unlimited data, calls, and texts within the US, Canada, and Mexico, along with 5GB of hotspot tethering.

The Simply Unlimited plan is now extended to support smartwatches, that too at no extra cost. Apart from the Pixel Watch, it also supports Samsung’s newest smartwatches: Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. Users who opt for any of the three plans—Simply Unlimited, Flexible, and Unlimited Plus—can get a free phone (Pixel 6a, Galaxy A14, or Moto G Power) with every new line that you add via 24 monthly billing credits.

Although there is a $5 increase in the ‘Simply Unlimited’ plan for three lines, there will be a $5 credit for the next three billing cycles. The Google Fi Wireless app is also redesigned, primarily focusing on easier family digital safety controls. Users can now more easily find settings to enable their child only to be called or texted by trusted numbers. This also allows you to add new members using the people switcher and the app card.

Apart from all these perks, Google is celebrating the name change by allowing users to try out its service for seven days without any cost. All you have to have is a phone with eSIM support, and you can access the Google Fi Wireless service with unlimited texts, calls, and data.
