Google has been offering the YouTube Kids app alongside the YouTube app on Android TV/Google TV, Apple TV (tvOS), Samsung TV (Tizen), LG TV (WebOS), and Fire TV (Fire OS) for a very long time. However, in May 2023, the company started offering YouTube Kids within YouTube as well on those platforms to offer a more streamlined experience.

Now, Google has announced that the YouTube Kids app is going away from those smart TVs starting July 2024. It means that from then on, you will be able to access YouTube Kids on those platforms only through YouTube. You will not see a separate icon for YouTube Kids on your smart TV. YouTube Kids on Android, however, isn’t going anywhere.

To access YouTube Kids in YouTube on your smart TV, you have to first set up a YouTube Kids account. When you reopen the app, it will show you the Who’s Watching screen. From there, select your kid’s account to go to YouTube Kids. If it opens up in another account, go to the profile icon at the top-left corner of the screen and select your kid’s account.
