Actor Asif Ali buys a brand new Land Rover Defender 110

Land Rover Defender made a comeback in its new avatar few years ago. Defender has always been portrayed as a rugged looking hard core off-road machine and the new generation Defender is no different from it. The only difference is that, it is now a lot more technologically advanced and offers a luxurious cabin. This is one of the reason, why it has become a popular choice among many Indian celebrities. Malayalam actor Asif Ali is the latest to join the Land Rover Defender family. He recently took the delivery of his brand new Defender 110 SUV.

Asif Ali is known to be petrol head and has a good collection of cars in his garage. The Land Rover Defender is latest addition to it. Asi Ali is one of the popular actors in Malayalam movie industry and has done lead roles in several movies. He has also produced couple of movies in the past. Coming to the Land Rover Defender, it is available in two body styles in India. There is a 110 and 9o version. The 110 version is the 5-door version while the 90 is the 3-door. The actor has bought the more practical Defender 110 SUV.

Land Rover Defender 110 is a huge vehicle. It is 5,018 mm long, 1,976 mm tall, 2,008 mm wide and has wheelbase of around 3,022 mm. The current generation Land Rover Defender may look all premium on the outside but, it is still a very capable SUV under the skin. The SUV has a maximum water wading capacity of 900 mm. It comes with a permanent 4WD system with a locking centre differnetial and active rear-locking differentials. The Defender also gets Land Rover’s Terrain Response System which would electronically control the vehicle depending on the surface it is being driven.

Coming to the engine options, Land Rover Defender is available with a 2.0 litre and 3.0 litre petrol engine options. There is a 3.0 litre diesel engine on offer as well. Last year, the manufacturer also launched a 5.0 litre V8 petrol engine option with both Defender 110 and 90 versions. All these engine options come with an automatic transmission as standard. As mentioned above, Land Rover Defender now offers a much more premium cabin without compromising its off-road capabilities.

The SUV offers a 10 inch touchscreen infotainment screen, fully digital 12.3 inch instrument cluster, automatic climate control, head-up display, wireless phone charger, connected car features, premium speaker system from Meridian, electrically adjustable front seats, electronic air suspension which can be raised with the touch of a button. It even has 360 degree camera, heated front seats, blind spot assist, front and rear parking sensors, six airbags, ABS, traction control, leather upholstery, rubber flooring and many more features.

Other than Defender 110, Asif Ali owns cars like Audi Q7, Mini Cooper S, BMW 3-Series. He also had a Porsche Boxster and a Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG which he sold recently. Asif Ali is not the first celebrity in Malayalam movie industry to own a Defender 110. Actor Dulquer Salmaan also owns one. In fact, he owns both new and old generation Defenders in his garage. Bollyood actors like Sunny Deol, Arjun Kapoor, Aayush Sharma and even wealthiest Indian businessman Mukesh Ambani also owns one. Many Indian politicians have also bought Defender 110.
