The Indian EV two-wheeler sector saw a total sales of 50,076 units in August 2022. Hero Electric secured the 10,476 units mark, becoming the largest EV two-wheeler seller in India in the same period. It’s also Hero’s first time to breach the 10,000 units mark since March 2022. 

EV two-wheeler sales still on the rise, Hero Electric grabs top spot

According to the VAAHAN portal, India recorded a total EV two-wheeler sales of 50,076 units in August 2022, which is a 12.7 percent boost as compared to July 2022. Hero Electric, with 10,476 units, has yet again booked to the first rank, and it’s the first time after March 2022 that the company has managed to sell 10,000+ vehicles.

Okinawa Autotech has managed to keep its podium place and has sold 8,554 units to do so. EV maker Ampere has just managed to edge past TVS and has grabbed onto the third position. Thanks to the refreshed iQube electric scooter, TVS has managed to sell 6,282 units, thanks to a 50 percent rise in sales of the aforementioned electric scooter. 

Bengaluru startup, Ather Energy sold 5,239 units and, in a statement, mentioned that it recorded the highest monthly sales in August 2022. Ather also managed to secure the fifth position on charts and thereby overtaking Ola Electric. Ola Electric recorded a dip in sales for the 4th consecutive time, having sold just 3,421 units in August 2022. 

Bajaj Auto sold 2,554 units, while startup Revolt managed to sell 1,604 samples of the RV400 electric bike.
